Icon trip to Russia next summer (2017).
I have not offered this custom made tour in several years, but I have now prepared it for next July.
As the trip is rather long and pricey, I divided it into two equal parts. That way, those who are not able to participate in the entire trip, could attend first part: St. Petersburg, Novgorod, Pskov and Moscow or second part: Moscow, Rostov, Yarolavl, Vologda, Vladimir, Suzdal.
My trip presents a very rare opportunity for people to visit the best of Russian Icon collections - both state funded and private, to meet Russian iconographers, and to visit great number of historical monuments with frescoes, some of which are off limits to general public.
For details of my itinerary which I hope that it may be of interest please go to www.orthodoxtours.com

Workshop in Poland
of icon and art of life
16 - 23 August 2015

from Frederic Chopin's birth place Zelazowa Wola.
week away from everything. Spent in a peaceful and creative atmosphere.
A time to help you look into a silence that is in all of us. To help you built confidence and learn who you are through creativity and personal development tools.
Icon painting will take a time in between breakfast and lunch. Students will work on icons that speak to them and through this work explore the technique of ancient egg tempera. Making paints from natural ingredients will help us connect to material we work with but also look into ourselves and understand creative processes.

I believe spirituality could be open to everyone and icon painting seems to be a perfect way. Icon is becoming more and more popular in modern world because people need something non materialistic in their lives. I would like to inspire this inner movement. Help explore what is not physical.''
lunch participants will explore mindfulness and more.
''I would like to offer opportunity to explore your inner worlds, emotions, needs, body experiences and to explore social world of relationships, connections, closeness, care and trust.
We will be using a broad range of methods and tools, beginning with artistic and physical expression, through mindfulness and inspiration from neuropsychology, NVC (nonviolent communication) and attachment theory applied to adult relationships. Together we will take a look at many important questions such as: what is that helps us become more alive and present, what is our drive, our spark of energy in life, how we understand spirituality and our connections to the world.'' BETHLEHEM ICON SCHOOL, BETHLEHEM HOLY LAND
Courses in iconography with Ian Knowles, 11-18 April 2013
These are seven-day intensive courses in iconography, covering all aspects of the process from drawing (not tracing) though gilding to painting in egg tempera. An excellent opportunity for those new to iconography, though the autumn course is aimed at those with some experience. Hospitality, included in the price, is at the Emmanuel Monastery, a community of Greek Catholic Benedictine nuns, on the outskirts of Bethlehem with views over the Judaean desert. A deeply contemplative environment, it makes these courses as much a spiritual retreat as a painting week. It is hard work, but that is driven by the students themselves, who really enter into the living world of the icon close to the place where the Father gave us His Image in the Face of the Christ Child.
The cost is £325, including all meals and accommodation for seven or eight nights.
